Right off the bat, I will tell you that this is the place to go if you are looking for great value. After coming here for dinner once, I had to return the next night. In total, I got the Empanadas with Chicken, Quesadillas, Milanesa de Puerco (breaded pork), Mango Smoothie, and Chocoplatano (chocolate banana) Smoothie. The empanadas, quesadillas, and milanesa were all very authentically Mexican and tasty. The mango smoothie was great, but oh boy, that chocoplatano smoothie was amazing. My friends could not help but get more of that chocoplatano.
Now I'll get to the best part of this restaurant: the prices. The empanadas were 48 pesos, the milanesa was about 80, and a large smoothie (it was indeed large) was 36 pesos. That means you can get all of that for less than $10! That is some serious value!
The service speed was decent and our waitress was friendly (although she only spoke Spanish). The restaurant has a simple design that doesn't look the best from the outside, but it sure is worth it. The bathroom is not functional, but that is a minor issue. I think this is a family business, so that explains why the staff is so tight. Overall, you must come to Cocina Sagrado Corazon if you are in the Playa del Carmen area and care about getting an incredible bang for your buck.
